Auto-Update Jump Client name to Hostname

In instances were Bomgar is deployed as windows is provisioned for first use, the Jump Client name will take the auto-generated host name given by windows.  If the computer name is changed in the future to match corporate naming policy, the Jump Client retains the generic windows computer name as a jump client name.  It would be convenient to have an option to have the jump client name auto-update to match the host name, or be updated,  in cases where the computer name is changed.

This feature was addressed as part of 19.2.1 RS. Thank you for the feedback on this.

This is even worse now with 20.1.1 you have to specify the name when installing the Jump Client.

Would have to wrap the installer in a script to pull the name then pass it through to the installer... This wasn't that big of an issue as we didn't rename computers that much and it was installed after the computer was named. Now they all have a generic name... wow

This has been under evaluation for 2 years? How long does it take to evaluate something that should already be in place?

Are there any updates from this? Has anyone been able to make this work?

I would be interested in hearing the business case for those not wanting the Bomgar name to match the host name.  I am surprised that this is not default behavior.

Yeah this definitely needs to be done.  As the jump client already sends machine statistics, I dont see why it cant also send computer name as well.  I'd think that would be a fairly simply thing to implement.

Not having this functionality natively is increasing the difficulty of our Windows 10 device refresh. What can be done to expedite this feature request?

This seems like one of those "duh, it should definitely already do that" ideas...

Yup, we definitely need this.   I gotta whole bunch of minint-xxxxxx I don't want.

I just don't like how messy it looks. No one needs to see a bunch of random characters for the computer name. It's misleading. Sort of disappointed that this is still sitting here a year later.

Agreed.  We have no need to name our computers something different in Bomgar than what they are in AD.

Please do this. The way it is right now is super-unhelpful.

Definitely a feature that needs to be added.  I was very surprised today to learn that it's not.  Many endpoint management tools have a simple tick box to the effect of "match name with hostname", or they do it automatically.  Why would an old name be useful or practical for a client name?

This would be really useful for both new images and when a computer changes sites.

Why is this not automatically an option that we can select?
