User can save own passwords into PBPS

Is it possible to provide the functionality to allow users using Password Safe to add their own credentials. There is no need to setup which system to connect to or anything but just to allow them to save their passwords into Password Safe. It would really helpful for users who wish to store their passwords securely on Password Safe. Since PBPS does not have this feature, I have to rely on the open source Password Safe ( to manage passwords.

NOTE: I did raise this in the old Ideas section on the support portal in 2017. Still looking forward to this feature.

What version is this released in? 7.0.0 or an upcoming update that hasn't been GA released? Pointers to docs or other references would be appreciated.

Would it be feasible for a Beyond Trust admin then to retrieve or see these passwords? as it is for all other onboarded accounts? How do we include this feature into our interface?

Based on a number of customer conversations this has been released as Team Passwords within Password Safe. Individual user passwords that are not company owned would be better addressed with LastPass, 1Password, Dashlane or similar.

A year later after my previous comment and we are still waiting for this feature. It's a large opportunity being missed by BeyondTrust as it's a perfect use case for password safe. We are instead having to look at other vaulting solutions such as Hashicorp.

Users should be able to store their own primary AD credentials in PasswordSafe (Not managed) and use that when they do "Admin Sessions" to target machines. PBUL/PMW policies are applied on the user's Primary AD credentials to restrict what they can do.

Good to see this is planned; would like to see a target. Benjamin Moore just implemented PWS and would like to use this feature. The CISO stated he used to have this feature with CyberArk at a preavious company.

Glad to see this moved to Planned. Any updates on timing to share? If even just Quarter or even year? PBPS 7.0? 8?

In my opinion, as Chris mentioned, you should expect the same features mentioned in the product "BeyondTrust Privileged Identity product" are in "BeyondTrust PowerBroker Password Safe" for managed accounts.

So there will be no point to use a (personal) password/key store.

It’s possible to set this up though is not intuitive since BI wasn’t designed for it.
PasswordSafe System Management and PS Account Management with read access to a specific Asset smart rule achieves this for any type of user group.

The BeyondTrust Privileged Identity product ( has a personal password store, a shared credential store, and a file store.

These three features function as follows:

    • The personal password store allows users to store their own passwords, and they can share with others as desired.
    • The shared credential store allows teams to share passwords that will not be managed by the product. These lists maintain separate ACLs from managed passwords.
    • The file store lets users upload any data such as SSH or SSL keys, password lists, license files, etc. They are stored and protected in the program's primary SQL data store. They maintain their own ACL list and version history on a per-file basis.

I'd love to expand this to include the ability for all users to save anything into PBPS, may be it passwords or an object such as an SSH key.

The ability to update the password on a pre-defined account.  If I am an account owner or defined as an ISA, then I should have the ability to update the password, specifically for manually managed accounts.

And maybe the possibility for shared credential stores? team based credentials that require a AD group permission.
